See that awful pile of dishes devouring our countertop space? This was the norm, before…our….KITCHEN REMODEL!
Here’s a few more pics of the previous kitchen.
Take a nice long look, double-handled faucett, charming vegetable decals on the tile, white counter-top clashing beautifully with the cream-colored cabinets. Yes, our kitchen was classy. On a typical day you could catch me jerking our drawers open or mopping up the water that constantly streamed off our slanted counter-top. And, then along came my crafty, handy husband. You could pretty much call him Kris “Bob the Builder” Jones.
One fine evening, the destruction began. First, Kris started with the cabinets.
Check it out – layers of paint and wallpaper! Also notice the pile of papers, etc. that had fallen behind the cabinets. We found pics of our house from the 80’s!
A closer look at the wallpaper.
Check out the boards and plaster behind the walls. This is one old house (we’re talking 1896).
Time to bring in the cabinets.
Good thing Kris had a little assistant to help. His matching mullet definitely secured him the job.
Cabinets are in!
Here she is, 24 hours after Kris started demolition. I was only without a sink for 24 hours! That’s incredible!!
And the final product, with dishwasher (I still can’t believe you just put the dishes in and turn it on!), paint, and tile backsplash. The drawers slide beautifully, the granite cleans like a dream, and the counter is level – no more waterfall off a slanted edge! Much easier to clean than white cabinets and counter, and matches better too. :) We’re loving it! Thanks hon for doing such a beautiful job! You’re amazing! (And thank you landlords for paying for it!)
